Obituary of Marie B. Stine

Marie Barbara Moran Stine R.N. May 8, 2015 Marie Barbara Moran Stine R.N., 53, of Luzerne passed into heaven on Friday May 8 at Regional Hospital in Scranton. She fought a long and courageous battle with cancer and her loving husband and family were at her side when she called home to hold her mother's hand. Marie was born in Wilkes-Barre on Dec. 5, 1961, the daughter of Michael Moran and the late Faith Riemensnyder Moran. She attended Meyers High School, where she was a decorated track & Field runner. She also devoted years to the swim team and band front. She graduated from Meyers in 1979 and continued on to graduate from Luzerne County College and Robert Packer School of Nursing. Marie worked as a registered nurse at Mercy-Regional Hospital for 26 years until her passing. Her kindness and compassion will always be remembered by her friends and co-workers on 9 east. Marie was an accomplished seamstress and crocheter. She spent many hours crafting doll clothes for her nieces and friends. Her crochet crafted ornaments, potholders, baby blankets, and thoughtful gifts that adorn their homes are cherished by the family and friends that received them. Marie spent many years as co-pilot with her husband Bill as they crisscrossed the state on safari, visiting countless antique markets and auction as they hunted for the many antique dolls and toys that adorn their home. She relished the hunt, celebrating an elusive fine in an out-of the way place. Marie and Bill spent countless weekends away at Aunt Kathy's in Lancaster, visiting the markets, shops and mud sales of the area. Marie loved the holidays. Especially Xmas, when she took great care decorating the house and her tree. She loved to set up her special old Lionel train under the tree and spent countless hours running it. Marie enjoyed her time wandering with her friends on shopping trips, movies and her special nail night out. Her themed Oscar night parties were legend, her going to great lengths to make it a night to remember. Marie was preceded in death by her mother Faith Anna Riemensnyder Moran. Surviving are her husband William (Bill) Stine with whom she spent 30 years of loving marriage; father Michael Moran, Sr. of Dallas; brother Michael Moran, Jr. and wife Mary Rose of Scranton; sisters Faith Kaminski and husband Terrence of Nuangola, Deborah Molchan and husband Michael of Swoyersville; brother Raymond Moran and wife Linda of Nanticoke; nephew Terrence, Kristopher, Keith, Patrick; nieces Kelsey, Kaleah, Elizabeth and faithful companion Tallulah. Her husband and family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Martin Hyzinski and his staff for the care Marie received for the last three years. The family is also extremely grateful for the care and compassion Marie received from her friends and co-workers at Mercy Regional Hospital. Many thanks to her Aunt Kathy who helped out continuously giving her time and opening her home to Marie when needed, also a thank you, that can't be expressed enough to her sister Debbie, who held Marie's hand and walked her though her darkest days.
