Obituary of Sally Mae Roote

Sally Mae (Kozokas) Roote October 3, 2016 Sally Mae Roote, 72, of Swoyersville, passed away on Monday at the Hershey Medical Center, surrounded by her family. Born in Swoyersville, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna Haduck Kozokas. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Wilkes-Barre. She was a member of Holy Family Parish, Luzerne and the Black Walnut American Legion. Sally had a kind heart, the most thoughtful, creative, generous and free spirited lady you'd ever meet. She was a woman of strong Faith. Her pride and love of family was beyond measure. If you needed a pick me up, genuine smile or a good belly laugh…Sally was your girl. She never met a stranger and cherished you…yes, YOU! She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard William Roote; sisters, Florence Kozokas and Ruth Gurnari. She is survived by daughter Alethea Roote of Tunkhannock; sons, Nathaniel Roote and wife Bobbi Jo, of Tunkhannock and Mark Roote and wife Amanda of South Carolina. Grandchildren, Cheyenne Brown, Gabrielle Roote, Julianna Roote, Michaela Roote, Braydon Roote, Maeve Roote, Alexander Roote, Victoria Cuevas;' sister, Betty Kinney of Kingston; brothers, Joseph Kozokas and wife Dorothy of Luzerne, Jim Kozokas and wife Regina of Swoyersville and husband of Ruth Gurnari, Tony Gurnari of Edwardsville. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday at 10:00 am in Holy Family Parish, Luzerne with Rev. Joseph Elston officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's cemetery, Swoyersville. Family and friends can call at the church on Friday from 9:00 – 9:45 am. Arrangement are entrusted to the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, Inc. Luzerne.
