Obituary of Joseph Fetchko

Joseph B. Fetchko March 1, 2017 Joseph B. Fetchko, 75 of Luzerne, passed away into the Lord's loving arms on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 in Geisinger South Celtic Hospice inpatient unit. He was born in Kingston on December 12, 1941. He was the son of the late Joseph A and Anna A Jacobs Fetchko. Joseph was a 1960 graduate of West Side Central Catholic High School. He was employed by American Auto Stores and Knorr Corp. before enlisting into the Army in 1964. He was stationed in Germany as a Lt Weapons Specialist, receiving the rifle M-14 sharpshooter award. Upon his honorable discharge in 1966, he was employed by PPL Electric Co. until his retirement. Joseph married the love of his life, the late Nancy A. Semyon Fetchko. He was preceded in death by brothers; Bernard T. and John S. Fetchko; sister, Anna M. Fetchko. Surviving are sons, Joseph and his wife Maureen, Pittston; John, Wilkes-Barre; daughters, Kimberly Mahalak and husband David, Wilkes-Barre; Tina Grant, Plymouth. Joseph was most proud of his grandchildren, David Mahalak and wife Allison; Matthew Mahalak, Kelly Mahalak, Nathan Mahalak and Molly Fetchko. Great grandchildren, David Mahalak, Jr. and Sophie Mahalak; also several nieces and nephews. Joseph always said "When his great grandchildren smiled he had no pain." They are his angels. Funeral will be held on Monday at 9:30 am from the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, Inc. 568 Bennett St. Luzerne, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Holy Family Parish, Luzerne. Interment will be in St. Ignatius Cemetery, Pringle. Friends may call on Monday from 8:30 – 9:30 am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation can be made to the SPCA or St. Jude's Children Hospital.
