Obituary of James J. Caladie

James J. Caladie Sr. of Shavertown, passed away on Monday, April 12, 2010, at General Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Luzerne on November 20, 1946, he was a son of the late Anthony and Madeline Bonetski Caladie. Jim was a graduate of Luzerne High School and a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Luzerne. He served in the U.S. National Guard and on the council for Luzerne Borough. He was also a past president of the former Luzerne Lions Club. Prior to his retirement due to disability, he worked at Lord & Taylor Distribution Center, Wilkes-Barre. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife and best friend, the former Rose Zekas, in October of 2009. He is survived by his son, James Jr.; brother Anthony and wife Kathleen, of Mountain Top; sister Cathie Hardik and husband Mike, of Luzerne; and several in-laws, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday at 9:30am at Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, 568 Bennett St., Luzerne, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at Holy Family Parish, Luzerne with the Rev. Michael Zipay officiating. Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas. Friends may call on Thursday, from 5 to 8 p.m. The family would like to thank all those who prayed for Jim, the nurses at the General Hospital for the care and comfort they provided and all friends and family.
