Obituary of Francis A. Hines

Francis A. Hines, 76, of Swoyersville passed away on Wednesday at Hospice Community Care, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Wilkes-Barre he was the son of the late Frederick and Cecelia Lawton Hines. He was a graduate of St. Mary's High School, Wilkes-Barre. He was a United States Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Prior to his retirement he was employed as a Journeyman pressman at Offset Paperback, Inc. Dallas. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, Luzerne; American Legion Post 644, Swoyersville and a Life member of Graphic Communication Union Local 137C. Francis was a great fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and enjoyed gardening. He was preceded in death by brothers Leonard, Joseph, Robert and Frederick Hines. He is survived by his wife the former Ann C. Dambrauskas with whom he celebrated 51 years of marriage last October. Children Denise Carlin and husband Thomas of Luzerne; Rodney Hines of Dallas; Susan Gitkos of Swoyersville. Grandchildren T. J. Carlin, Brian Carlin, Mitchell Hines, Kyle Gitkos and great Grandson Thomas. Funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:30 AM from the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, Inc. 568 Bennett St. Luzerne with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in Holy Family Parish, Luzerne, with Rev. Michael Zipay officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Annunciation Cemetery, Pringle. Friends may call on Friday from 5-8 PM. The Hines family would like to send thanks to Dr. Michael Kovalick and his staff, Dr Brady and his staff, Home Health Care, Hospice Community Care, special thanks to Henry Cancer Center of Plains for their compassion and caring. In lieu of flowers memorial donation can be made to the charity of donor's choice.
