Obituary of Anna P. Hlusko

Anna P. Hlusko, 93, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009, at Mercy Center, Dallas. Born in Swoyersville, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Anna Stelma Phillips. She spent her entire life in the Wyoming Valley area and was a communicant of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Wilkes-Barre. She was married to Michael Hlusko, who predeceased her in 1988. The couple had one daughter, Joan A. Hlusko Kalac, who also predeceased her in 1998. Anna is survived by her son-in-law, Peter P. Kalac, and wife, Grace, of Middletown. N.J; five grandchildren, Denise C. Kalac of Red Bank, N.J., Dianne T. Kalac Cavanaugh of Morris Plains, N.J., Justin P. Kalac of Middletown, N.J., Damien J. Kalac of Middle-town, N.J., and Paul C. Kalac of Yardley, Pa.; seven great-grandchildren, Cara, Dana, Eva, Rory, Christian John, Avary and William Travers; sisters, Helen Michaels of New Jersey, Sue Stiewe of Florida, and Theresa Michaels of Swoyersville; as well as a brother, George Phillips, of Plains Township. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday from the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home Inc., 568 Bennett St., Luzerne, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Parish, Luzerne, with the Rev. Michael Zipay officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Dallas. Friends may call today from 6 to 8 p.m.
