Obituary of Rose M. Caladie

Rose M. Caladie, 63, of Shavertown, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, October 4, 2009, at Hospice Care of the VNA, Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Luzerne, on August 15, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Bernard and Agnes (Yakas) Zekas. She was a graduate of Luzerne High School and Luzerne County Community College, Nanticoke. She was employed by the Luzerne County Courthouse since 1980. She worked in Tax Claim, Data Processing, and most recently in Veterans Affairs. Prior to working for Luzerne County, she owned and operated Rose Marie Ceramics in Luzerne. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother John Zekas in August of 2009. She is survived by her loving husband and best friend, James Caladie, Shavertown; son James Caladie Jr., at home; brothers Raymond Zekas, Shavertown, and Michael Zekas, Florida; several in-laws, nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all those whose prayers Rose was in, Hospice Care of the VNA for the care and comfort they provided, and all friends and family. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, 568 Bennett Street, Luzerne, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Parish, Luzerne, with Father Michael J. Zipay, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday, from 5 to 8 pm.
