Obituary of Ona Brookes

Ona Brookes March 15, 2017 Ona Brookes, of Luzerne, passed away on Wednesday at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. She celebrated her 70th birthday on February 7th. Born in Kingston, she was the daughter of the late Clement and Veronica Stankoski Brookes. Ona was a graduate of Luzerne High School and the Empire Beauty Academy. She was employed at several local salons, her favorites being Pomeroys and the Buck Hill Falls Inn. Onie will be remembered for her sharp wit and sense of humor by all who knew her. She enjoyed crossword puzzles (done in ink), warm weather, Corvette car shows with Tom and her cats. She enjoyed the company of her family, especially her granddaughter, Mia. Her fun loving memories will live on. Ona is survived by her husband, Tom Curry, step children Kelly Curry, at home; Tom Curry, Corpus Christi, Texas: grandchildren, Mia Williams, niece, Deborah Cummings and husband Henry, Allentown; nephew, Joseph Brookes and partner, Kirk Kozero, Coopersburg. She was pre-deceased in death by her sister, Joan Brookes Shearn. Funeral services will be held n Saturday, March 25, at 1:00pm at the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, Inc. 568 Bennett St Luzerne. Family and friends may call on Saturday from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Private internment will be held at St Ann's Cemetery, Lehman at the convenience of the family.
