Obituary of Genevieve H. Stravinski

Genevieve H. Stravinski February 24, 2013 Genevieve Stravinski 90, formally of Luzerne passed away on Sunday, February 24 at Kingston Commons, Kingston after being a resident for four years. She was born in Camden, New Jersey on June 5, 1922, the daughter of the late Ignatius Surash and Sarah Surash, Havrilchick. She was a lifelong resident of Luzerne, where she attended Luzerne Schools. She was employed for many years at General Cigar Factory in Kingston, a division of Culbro Co. New York until it's closing. She was a life member of the former St. Mary Annunciation Catholic Church in Kingston. She took great pleasure in attending local church and community bingo fund raising events. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Edmund in August 2004. Sisters, Helen Stankus, Regina Surash, Alfreda Surash a brother, John Surash and a nephew Joseph Stankus. She is survived by sister, Josephine Kotch and husband Joseph of Luzerne also nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at the convenience of the family with a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Parish in Luzerne. Interment will be in St. Mary Annunciation Cemetery, Pringle. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements were entrusted to the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, Inc. 568 Bennett St. Luzerne.
