Obituary of John J. Ganz

John "Jack" Ganz October 14, 2013 John "Jack" Ganz, 70, of Luzerne passed away on Monday October 14 in New York State after a few days of fishing. He was born in Scranton, son of the late Joseph and Helen Maloney Ganz. He was a graduated of Scranton Central High School and was an Air Force Veteran, serving in Vietnam. Jack retired after a long career at Verizon, formerly Bell Atlantic. Following retirement, he started his second career as a "volunteer extraordinaire". He was the facilities coordinator at the Center for Cancer Wellness Candy's Place; and executive trustee serving as secretary for the Catskill Fly Fishing Center, NY; also he was a longtime member of the Stanley Cooper Sr. Chapter of Trout Unlimited and the Bell Pioneers. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Debra Zalewski Ganz; sons, Barry, Jared, John "Josh"; daughters Nicole Ganz Osman and Jacklyn and eight grandchildren. Family and friends may call to share memories of Jack on Saturday, October 19 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, Inc. 568 Bennett St. Luzerne.
