Obituary of Anthony J. Stackalis

Anthony (Tony) Stackalis April 16, 2016 Anthony (Tony) Stackalis, 99, of Luzerne, passed away on Saturday at Wesley Village, Jenkins Twp. Pa. Born in Swoyersville, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Shonis Stackalis. Prior to his retirement he work as an auto body mechanic at City Chevrolet, Kingston. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II, serving seventeen months with the Pacific Fleet, where he took part in five invasions. Anthony was preceded in death by his wife the former Albina Tomulinas; brother Bill; sisters, Ann, Betty, Mary, Helen, Julie. Surviving are children; John Stackalis and wife Maureen, Luzerne; Bernadette Stackalis, Springfield, VA.; Jean Edwards and husband Joe, Courtdale; William Stackalis and wife Patty, Drums: grandchildren, Susan Wylam and husband Ben, Waymart; Christine Martino and companion Mike Schultz, Bear Creek; Jack Stackalis and wife Michaline, El Dorado Hills, CA.; William Stackalis and wife Dawn, Alaska; Nikki Mimnaugh, Luzerne; Rebecca Russick and husband Greg, Courtdale: great grandchildren, Evan Wylam, Kylie and Colin Stackalis, John Mimnaugh, Elizabeth Russick and a sister Agnes Dougher. Funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:30 am from the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, Inc. 568 Bennett St. Luzerne, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Holy Family Parish, Luzerne. Interment will be in St. Mary's Annunciation Cemetery, Pringle. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8 pm.
