Obituary of Regina Grebeck

Regina M. Grebeck October 6, 2013 Regina M. Grebeck, 83, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 6 at Highland Manor Nursing Center, Exeter surrounded by her loving family. A lifelong resident of Port Griffith, Jean was born in Pittston on June 12, 1930 to the late Anthony and Frances Dalton Mariani. At sixteen, Jean began her work as a presser in the garment industry for Lisa Fashions in Pittston; she was also employed by Topps MFG, Duryea; Jenkins Twp. Elementary School in Sebastopol and Lee Manufacturing in Pittston from which she retired. Throughout her life she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her luck at both bingo and the lottery (her two favorite hobbies) was surpassed only by her amazing cooking. Her fiery personality and her deep love for her family will never be forgotten. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward J. Grebeck; brothers, Joseph and Michael Mariani and by sister, Albert Karsko. Surviving are her children; daughter, Linda Pokorny and husband Joseph of Swoyersville; sons, Edward Jr. and wife Mary of Swoyersville; Robert and wife Annie of West Wyoming and Kevin and wife Ann of Lake Winola. Jean was a loving and devoted grandmother to Carissa Pokorny-Golden of Hellertown; Cheryl Dructor of Exeter; Joseph Pokorny of Dallas; Michelle and Kelly Grebeck of Swoyersville and Kevin and Matthew Grebeck of Lake Winola. She was also a great-grandmother to Kaila, Kayden and Amelia. She is also survived by her sister, Arlene Kolbeck of Pittston; nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral, which will be conducted on Wednesday at 9:30 am from the Betz-Jastremski Funeral, Inc. 568 Bennett St. Luzerne with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Holy Family Parish, Luzerne with Rev. Michael Zipay officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Wyoming. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. The family would like to extend their thanks to her caregivers at Highland Manor for the love, care and support given to Jean during her illness. They would also like to thank Dr. Charles Manganiello for his love and devotion to her care throughout the year.
