Obituary of Judith Repshas

Judith Repshas October 6, 2013 Judy Repshas, 56, passed away Sunday, October 6 at her home, White Haven Center, White Haven, PA. Judy was the daughter of the late Anthony and Helen Repshas, Luzerne. Judy was known as Wyoming Valley's "Sleeping Beauty" in the late 1960's. At age 10, Judy developed a childhood illness that left her severally disabled. Judy spent two years in a coma at the former Nesbitt Memorial hospital, Kingston and was lovingly attended to by staff and family. Prior to her illness, Judy attended St. John's school in Luzerne and was active in sports, the Catholic Youth Center, and the Junior Catholic daughters. Following her stay in the hospital, Judy became a lifelong resident of White Haven Center. For more than four decades, Judy's care was delivered with love, dignity, and respect by White Haven Center staff - as if she was a daughter, sister, or aunt of the staff and volunteers that cared for her. Recently, Judy was also under the care of the health care professionals at Geisinger Wyoming Valley and Kindred Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. The Repshas family expresses their appreciation for the thousands of prayers, thoughtful gestures, and kindness of family and friends throughout the years in support of Judy and our family. Judy was loved by and thought of by many. Surviving Judy are brothers Donald, Reston, VA; David, Forty Fort; sister, Christine Berger, Harrisburg; nephews Sam and Michael Repshas, Reston, VA; Emily Repshas, Forty Fort; Benjamin Berger, Harrisburg. The funeral will be Thursday, October 10 at 10:30 am from the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, 568 Bennett St., Luzerne, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Family Church, Bennett Street, Luzerne. Interment will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Lehman. Friends may call Thursday morning between 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
