Obituary of Andrew J. Ruddy

Obituary of Andrew J. Ruddy July 19, 2014 Andrew J. Ruddy, 76 of Luzerne, passed away Saturday afternoon, July 19, 2014, at his home after a brief illness. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of Elizabeth (Conniff) Ruddy of Kingston, and the late Andrew Ruddy. Andrew was a graduate of Plymouth High School, and was an Army Veteran serving in Hawaii. He was employed for Valley Vending until his retirement, was an avid Notre Dame Football fan, and was a drummer in various local bands. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, Luzerne, where he served as an usher, and the Swoyersville American Legion, Post 644. He was preceded in death by his brothers John and Donald Ruddy, and his son-in-law Benjamin Zimmerman. Surviving in addition to his mother Elizabeth are his children Cynthia Zimmerman, Edwardsville, Andrew Ruddy and his wife Kate, Trucksville, and David Ruddy and his wife Sharon, Kingston, grandchildren Emma and Veronica Zimmerman, Andrew, Matthew, and Ian Ruddy, Great-Grandson Andrew Ruddy, wife Ruth Ruddy, Luzerne. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 10:00 am in Holy Family Parish, Bennett Street Luzerne, with Father Michael Zipay, pastor, officiating. Friends and family are invited to go directly to church Thursday morning. Interment will held in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Shavertown, at the convenience of the family.
