John S. Novitski, 85, of Shavertown, passed away on Wednesday at the Meadows Nursing Home, Dallas.
Born in Edwardsville, he was the son of the late Andrew and Blanche Dringo Novitski. He was a graduate of Wyoming Seminary Business School, United States Army Veteran of World War II and prior to his retirement he was the controller at Penn State Belt and Buckle in Wilkes-Barre Twp. He was a member of the Wyoming Valley Country Club; past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Club. He was an avid stargazer, crossword master and cigar connoisseur.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years the former Alice Zurinski. Daughters, Janice Symons of Lehman; Jill Spencer and husband Scott of Lehman; sons, John Novitski, Jr. and wife Terri of Trucksville; Jeffrey Novitski and wife Lori of Sweet Valley; Joel Novitski and wife Renee of Dallas, nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am at the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, Inc. 568 Bennett St. Luzerne with Rev. Michael Zipay officiating. Interment will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Lehman. Friends may call on Friday from 5-8 pm and Saturday from 9-10am.
