Obituary of Frank P. Guchanas

Frank P. Guchanas December 8, 2014 Frank Paul Guchanas, 88, formally of Luzerne & Kingston, passed away on Monday with his family at his side, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Plains Twp. Pa. Born in Luzerne, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary Ceak Guchanas. He was a United States Navy Veteran of both World War II and Korean. He worked for Frankford Arsenal in Philadelphia as a machinist and later he worked at the VA Hospital in Plains Twp. In 1972 he took over the family business, Guchanas Café in Luzerne. He was a member of the VFW Anthracite Post 283, Kingston. He was preceded in death by his second wife Mary Lea Edwards and a sister Mary Witt. She is survived by his first wife Jean Brown; daughters, Carol James and husband Robert Cook of Burlington Twp. N.J.; Mary Lou Fedorko and husband Michael of Edwardsville; son, Jay Guchanas and wife Paula of Luzerne; grandchildren, Lisa Ferrara, Luke James, Michael Fedorko, Sean Fedorko, Briana Fedorko; great grandchildren, Sophia Marie James, Hadley Kristen Ferrara, Greyson Vincent Ferrara; sisters; Ann Kryznaric of Virginia, Lillian Thomas of Kingston and several nieces and nephews. A memorial Mass will be held on Monday at 10:00 am in Holy Family Parish, Luzerne with Rev. Michael Zipay officiating. Friends may call at church from 9:00 am until time of Mass.
