Carl Strenfel, Sr.

Carl Strenfel, Sr. 96, passed away Aug. 30, 2015 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born June 25, 1919 in Rock Spring, Wyoming, son of the late John and Anna Krainz Strenfel, who chose to relocate to Pennsylvania.
He served in the US Army as a truck master during WWII. Being promoted to Staff Sergeant, he was honored with several decorations, including Good Conduct and Victory medals. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, he was in the C.C.C. camps, worked as a coal miner for 10 years and was also an experienced welder, retiring from Kingston Metal after 22 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66years Frances Kijek in 2009, Sons, Frederick and Carl Jr., siblings, Edward, Victor and Mary Strenfel.
Surviving are his granddaughter Melissa Ann Strenfel Sims; daughter-in-law Carolyn Strenfel, both of Luzerne. Several nephews, cousins and a niece Judy Zaremski of Inkerman. Respecting his wishes funeral will be private. "I'll miss you grandpa, but I keep peace in my heart knowing that you will be in haven the grandma and daddy". Arrangements are entrusted to the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, Inc. Luzerne.
