Ann Grozalis

Obituary of Ann L. Grozalis

Ann Grozalis September 23, 2015 In the late evening, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, Wednesday September 23, Ann Grozalis of Courtdale, decided to let go and be embraced by the arms of our Lord. Waiting ever so patiently with welcoming arms was her loving husband, Leonard Grozalis, along with her parents, Edward and Lillian Coniglio Kuzma. Ann's life was nurtured by growing up in her childhood town of Swoyersville, where most of her family and friends resided. She graduated in 1952 from Swoyersville High School. She resided in Dallas for a period of time before settling in Courtdale. She was the proud owner of Gemini Ceramics where she taught and sold ceramics. As a community orientated person, Ann had a perpetual desired to help others. She served many years in the Swoyersville Kiwanis, was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary since 1962, and supported the Knights of Columbus, Council 3987, Luzerne. Macular degeneration, in her later years, curtailed her abilities to stay active with these groups. However, she continually supported her local food pantry and would constantly share her love of cooking to all friends and family. Her love of her grandchildren, as they grew, was to be emulated. She always made sure she supported all their activities, life accomplishments, and was relatable and approachable; like a best friend. Ann was preceded in death by a brother, John Kuzma. She is survived by son, Kenneth Grozalis and wife Gretchen, Lewisberry; daughter, Beverly Hetro and husband John, Wyoming, grandchildren, Michael Grozalis, Janell and Nicholas Hetro; sister Rosalie O'Donnell and husband Robert, Hanover Twp.; brothers, Chester Kuzma and wife Alyce, Swoyersville, Charles Kuzma and wife Diane, Centermoreland. Ann's life was also touched with the love and helping hands of Shirley Roman, JoAnn and Bobby Stefanko, and Irene Bockowski. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the food pantry at Holy Family Parish or the Greater Wilkes-Barre Association of the Blind, 1825 Wyoming Ave., Exeter, PA. Funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9:30 am at Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, Inc. 568 Bennett St. Luzerne, with a mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Holy Family Parish, Luzerne. Interment will be in St. Mary's Annunciation Cemetery, Pringle. Friends may call on Monday from 5-8 pm at the funeral home.
