Obituary of Joseph Stravinsky
Joseph Stravinsky of Dallas passed away on Oct 29 at the age of 85. He was a graduate of Luzerne High School, served in the army during the Korean War and was the last surviving member of the family of Peter and Susan Uter Stravinsky that included seven children: Albert, Albina Bolsar, Mary Sternick, Ben, Tony and Florence.
Joseph leaves behind his best friend and devoted wife, Rose Marie, who he was married to for 52 years, his Son Benjamin, Daughter Susan Stravinsky(Kurt) Santayana, and only Grandson Chase Santayana.
He was a renaissance man, being industrious and ingenious in many aspects of life. His primary career was as a Master Electrician who worked on many diverse projects including the Susquehanna Nuclear Power Plant. Later in his career he served as the Custodian of Gate of Heaven taking care of the Church and School. He also assisted his wife Rosie in her Daycare business.
Joseph was a charming and witty person, who always tried to bring a smile to every individual he came into contact with. He acknowledged every person with "Hey good lookin". He loved to travel, take on a project and spend time with his family.
A viewing will be held on Sunday Nov 1 at Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home at 568 Bennett St. Luzerne, PA from 6-8 pm and the funeral will be held at Holy Family Parish located at 574 Bennet St, Luzerne PA on Monday November 2, 2015 at 10AM.
