Obituary of William Walko

William B. Walko October 30, 2015 William B. Walko, 82, of Shavertown passed away peacefully Friday at Celtic Hospice Inpatient Unit at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Andrew and Pauline Pavlik Walko. He was a graduate of Swoyersville High School, class of 1951. Prior to his retirement he was a landscaper with Rave's Landscaping in Dallas. William served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958 attaining the rank of First Sergeant. He was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Church, Carverton. Bill was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for gardening and a joy of hunting and fishing. He enjoyed sports especially baseball and football. He was preceded in death by grandson Jacob Daniel Stuart. Bill is survived by his wife of 53 years, the former Barbara Reilly; son Jeffrey Walko and wife Lisa of Richmond, VA; daughter Michele Stuart and husband Robert of Larksville; grandchildren, Rachael, Rebecca and Andrew Walko; Matthew, Nicholas, Michael and Katherine Stuart; sister Agnes Schnelly of Swoyersville; brother, Thomas Walko of Hackettstown, NJ, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, Inc. 568 Bennett St. Luzerne with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Frances Cabrini Church, Carverton.
