John Molitoris, 89, formerly of Mountain Top passed away on Tuesday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.
He was born in Ashley, son of the late Joseph and Anna Juras Molitoris. John was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II and the Korean War. While assigned to the USS Indiana, he was in Tokyo Bay during the signing of the peace treaty that ended World War II. Most of his career life he was affiliated with Acme Beverage Co. in Ashley and later he was the owner, operator of The Inn at Nuangola. John was a member of St. Jude's Church, Mountain Top and also served on the board of the Mountain Top Ambulance Assoc.
He was preceded in death by brother, Albert Molitoris; sisters, Katherine Malinowski and Mary Ostrowski.
Surviving is his wife the former Helen Matsko, a daughter, son-in-law, granddaughter; sister, Madelyn Lawson of Conyngham, also several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to the McCune Funeral Home 80 S. Mountain Blvd, Mountain Top on Saturday from 8:30 am to 9:30 am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Jude's Church, Mountain Top. Entombment will be in St. Marys' Cemetery, Hanover Twp. In lieu of flowers memorial donation can be made to Mountain Top Ambulance Association. The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, for all their love and compassion.
