Obituary of Thomas Edward Wisnieski

Thomas (Bud) Edward Wisnieski, Sr. April 23, 2016 Thomas "Bud" E. Wisnieski Sr., 87, of Shavertown, passed away on April 23, 2016 at the Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital in Boston, MA. Bud was born in 1928, son of Roman and Frances Wisnieski, Luzerne, PA. He graduated from Luzerne High School in 1946, and served in the Navy from 1950 to 1954. He graduated from the Wilkes-Barre Campus of Penn State with a degree in electrical engineering and went to work for General Electric in Schenectady, NY. Bud married Genevieve Radzwilka from Wyoming, PA on September 8, 1956. Bud developed an ethic for getting things done at an early age; working eleven hours a day on a farm by the time he was a teenager. Whether he was working on top-secret projects to help contain the Soviets in the Cold War, or selling ice cream at the former Ice Cream Delite on Carverton Road, which he owned and operated with his family, Bud did it all. After many years of service at General Electric, Bud enjoyed his retirement golfing at Lehman, and spending time with his family. Bud's 'can-do' attitude, made you want to do things better or try harder. He made you think that you could do anything. But most of all, Bud was family. He opened his autobiography, "The Wisnieski's of Rose Hill" with: "The family was the focal point of all activities." Bud never missed a family event that he was able to attend. Weddings, baptisms, birthdays, he was always there with a smiling, happy attitude for his children, grandchildren and family. Bud is survived by his wife, Genevieve (Radzwilka) of 59 years; daughter Arlene (Carl) Stapinski, Duxbury, MA; son Thomas (Kristine) Wisnieski, Manlius, NY; and daughter Jean Marie (Warren) Jackson, Hollis, NH. Bud adored his seven grandchildren: Cameron, Lia, Sam, Lily, Cooper, Chloe, and John Thomas. He is also survived by his brother, Daniel (Irene) Wisnieski; his sister, Frances (Sal) Spatola; sister-in-law Lorraine Wisnieski; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Bud was pre-deceased by his brothers, Leonard (and wife Steffie) and Roman Jr. Bud will be forever remembered as a loving husband and father, supportive grandfather, avid gardener, proud patriot, and Navy Veteran. Funeral will be held on Friday at 9:30 am from Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home 568 Bennett St. Luzerne, PA. With a Mass of Christian Bural at 10:00 am in Holy Family Parish, Luzerne. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-7 pm. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.
