Obituary of John J. Kurent

John Joseph (Jack) Kurent, Sr. September 29, 2016 John J. (Jack) Kurent, Sr. passed away suddenly at home Thursday morning. Born in Kingston, he was the son of the late Joseph and Erma Millheim Kurent, Sr. He graduated from Luzerne High School, class of 1965 and attended Kings College. He was a Union Electrician, working out of IBEW Local 1319. He coached and was past president of the LCP little league and he was also a member of the Rose Hill Rod and Gun Club. Jack enjoyed fishing, watching the Phillies and Eagles and spending time with his grandchildren He was preceded in death by his wife Rose Gabel Kurent and a brother Joseph Kurent, Jr. He is survived by sons, John J. (Jack) Kurent, Jr. of Luzerne; Scott Kurent and wife Patricia of Dallas; Mark Kurent and wife Mary of Luzerne; grandchildren, Brittney, Nicole, Jenna, Juliana and Scott Jr. There will be no service or viewing for Jack. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Luzerne County SPCA. Arrangements are entrusted to the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, Inc. Luzerne.
