Obituary of Helen R. Hudanick

Helen R. Hudanick, 101, of Swoyersville passed away Thursday at her home with her loving son and care-giver, Bernard by her side. Born on September 30, 1909, Helen was the daughter of the late Peter and Anna Waitulonis Pecukonis. She was a life-long resident of Swoyersville; she was educated in Sacred Heart School, Luzerne. She worked at various jobs over the years including the cigar factory and waitressing. She was an Avon lady for over twenty five years retiring at the age of 75. She was a member of Holy Family Parish, Luzerne and its Altar and Rosary Society. Helen's first and foremost job was the matriarch of her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother and loved us all unconditionally. She was an excellent cook and baker always sharing with her family. Helen's main hobby was crocheting, over her lifetime; she made hundreds of doilies, tablecloths and afghans. Every child received an afghan as a gift for birth or wedding. She was also known to make beautiful afghans for the church bingo every year until she could not see well enough to do her needle work. Helen was preceded in death by her husband Michael in 1971; infant daughter Bernadine; daughter Helen Dennis; son Michael Hudanick and sister Regina Fronczkiewicz. Surviving are daughters, Marion Savakinas of Luzerne; Dolores Bubblo of West Wyoming; Barbara Drobnicki of Warrington; son Bernard at home; son-in-law Vince Dennis of Swoyersville. She had 15 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM from the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, Inc. 568 Bennett St. Luzerne with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in Holy Family Parish, Luzerne with Rev. Michael Zipay officiating. Interment will be in Saint Ann's Cemetery, Lehman. Friends may call on Monday from 6-8 PM.
