Julianna B. Zambito, 89, of Swoyersville, passed away on Easter Sunday at the Wilkes-Barre, General Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Wyoming, daughter of the late Stephan and Wladysawa Jagelski Popko. She was a graduate of Wyoming High School, class of 1946. She worked at a dress shop in Pittston and a dry cleaning business in Miners Mill. After marriage she worked at Tony's Diner alongside her husband and family for 44 years. She very much enjoyed the socialization with their many loyal customers.
She was preceded in death by parents; sister, Sophia Popko; brothers, George and John Popko and infant brother John.
Surviving are her husband James (Tony) Zambito, children, Denise Scalzo and husband Santo, Lancaster; Tony Zambito, Swoyersville; grandchildren, Matthew Scalzo and wife Daniella; Alicia Scalzo and Amanda Scalzo and husband Brian; great grandchild, Mary Rosa Baker, who was the light of her life. She was a devout member of Holy Family Parish, had a deep faith and loved God. Her greatest joys were her family, working at Tony's and being a loving homemaker. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
Funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:30 am from the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, Inc., 568 Bennett St. Luzerne, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Holy Family Parish, Luzerne, with Rev. Walter Jenkins, officiating. Interment will be in ST. Joseph Cemetery, Wyoming. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 5-8 pm at the funeral home.
