Obituary of Mary Sokoloski

Mary Sokoloski June 20, 2018 Mary Sokoloski, 105, of Edwardsville, formally of Luzerne passed away on Wednesday at home. Born, Oct. 30, 1912 in West Virginia, daughter of the late Michael and Helen Adams Hydock. For a short time she work at the Nesbitt Hospital in the kitchen, but most of her life she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother. Mary lived with her granddaughter Kristen Fox and great grandchildren Deven and Christopher. She had four brothers; Michael Hydock, Joseph Hydock, Andrew Hydock and Paul Hydock (KIA) in WWII in Europe and a sister Helen Favata. She was married in Jan. of 1926 to Peter F. Sokoloski. She and Peter were married 38 years when he passed away on September 13, 1964. Mary was the mother of 11 children, three died in infancy, Michael, John, Albert; deceased children; Peter Sokoloski, Jr. Richard Sokoloski, Bernadine Sokoloski and Joseph Sokoloski. Surviving are children; Rose Holly Nafus, Maryland; Paul Sokoloski, Luzerne; Dorothy Judge, Harvey's Lake; Veronica Sokoloski Trucksville. 27 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, 18 great great grandchildren, 6 great great great, grandchildren. Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 9:30 from the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, Inc. 568 Bennett St. Luzerne, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Holy Family Parish, Luzerne, with Rev. Walter Jenkins officiating, interment will be in St. Ann's, Lehman. Family and friend may call on Saturday from 8: am to 9:30 am.
