Obituary of Dolores Yakus

Dolores "Lou" Yakus June 24, 2018 Dolores "Lou" Yakus, 87, of Forty Fort, was embraced by the Lord Sunday afternoon, June 24, 2018, while surrounded by her 5 children and many grandchildren. Born in Luzerne, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Caroline Schoenwetter Blassic. She was a graduate of Luzerne High School, Class of 1949, where she was remembered by classmates as having a "dynamic sense of humor and the energy to beat on the drums" in the high school band. She worked hard creating a happy home for her 5 children and husband, Albert. She was the absolute love of his life. She was also employed by Gertrude Hawk Chocolates in order to ensure her grandchildren had an endless supply of candy. Lou loved life and lived it to the fullest. She enjoyed hiking, pizza, eating dessert first, avoiding salad "like the plague", and getting into mischief with her grandkids. They will miss their Grammy terribly. Her family is filled with sincere gratitude to the staff and volunteers of Manor Care, Kingston, where she most recently resided, for their expert care and compassion. Each day her family got to see her sparkling blue eyes and beautiful smile was a gift. She was preceded in death by her husband Albert Yakus and brother, Robert Blassic She is survived by children; Deborah Dudeck and husband Roy, Kingston; Susan Hoover and husband Kenneth, Dallas; Beverly Cottle and husband Bruce, Lewes, DE.; Marta Saneholtz and husband Paul, Forty Fort; Albert Yakus and wife Elaine, Shavertown.
