Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Resavage

Elizabeth Ann Resavage July 4, 2018 Elizabeth Ann (Betsy) Resavage, 79, of Swoyersville, passed away on July 4, 2018 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in Nanticoke, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Dorothea Dewicz Shannon. Elizabeth was a graduate of Nanticoke High School, has a BS in Science from College Misericordia (now Misericordia University), and a MS degree in education from the University of Scranton. She started her career as a dietitian at Wyoming Valley Hospital, she taught at Nanticoke Area School District and prior to her retirement in 2003, she was employed by Wyoming Valley West High School, as a home economics teacher. Elizabeth was a member of St. Mary Czestochowa Church, Swoyersville, where she was very active in Christian Mothers and taught religious education. After her parish closed she became a member of Holy Family Parish, Luzerne. Elizabeth enjoyed Penn State Football, shopping with her daughters, the color pink and cats. She traveled yearly to Ocean City, Maryland with her family and loved spending time with her granddaughters. Elizabeth is survived by her husband of 52 years, Robert; daughters, Mary Ann Resavage, Cindy Resavage both of Swoyersville; Karen Alaimo and her husband Rich, Dallas; grandchildren, Samantha and Cassie Alaimo, also nieces, nephews and cousins. Elizabeth's family would like to thank Dr. Cynthia Solomon for her compassionate medical care, General Hospital ER Staff and General 8East Floor nurses and staff for the wonderful care she received the final 2 days of her life. She resided for two months at the Meadows (2 Dogwood) Dallas, prior to her death. The family would like to thank nurses, aides, therapists and staff of the Meadows for the loving, compassionate care she received. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral Tuesday July 10, 2018 at 9:30 am from the Bet-Jastremski Funeral Home, Inc. 568 Bennett St. Luzerne, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Holy Family Parish, Luzerne. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Wyoming. Family and friends are invited to call 5-8 pm Monday July 9 at the funeral home.
