Obituary of Samuel James Zambeto

Samuel James Zambeto October 26, 2018 Samuel James Zambeto, 74, of Luzerne, passed away on Friday evening at Celtic Hospice, South Wilkes-Barre, surrounded by his loving family Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of Shirley Mc Dermott and the late Samuel Zambeto. He was a graduate of Luzerne High School, class of 1962. Served in the U.S. Navy. He and Joan worked and operated several restaurants in the area. Prior to his retirement, he was a Food Service Supervisor at State Correctional Institution, Dallas. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, Luzerne; American Legion in Larksville and Swoyersville and VFW post 283, Kingston. He is survived by his wife of 53 years the former Joan Kalish; daughters; Angeline Zambeto, Exeter; Christine Zambeto and fiancé John Hopkins, Luzerne; sisters, Phyllis Evan, Hanover Twp.; Eve Van Scoy, Seminole, Florida; Sandy Zambeto, Allentown; Joanne and husband Jeffery Huntington, Whitehall; sisters-in-laws Donna Mehl and Dolores Sennick. Luke and Kyle Philllips, also many nieces and nephews. Sam enjoyed traveling, golfing, playing cards and working crossword puzzles. But being surrounded by family was one of his most memorable moments. Funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9:30 am from the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, Inc. 568 Bennett St. Luzerne, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Holy Family Parish, with Rev. Walter Jenkins officiating. Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas. Family and friends may call on Monday from 5-8 pm. at the funeral home. .
