Obituary of Alex Chesna

Alex J. Chesna December 13, 2018 Alex J. Chesna, 91, of Hanover Twp., went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday Dec. 13, 2018 Born April 8, 1927 in Larksville, he was the son of the late William and Anna (Karl) Chesna. He was preceded in death by his wife the former Dolores Chasko and brother, Robert S. Chesna. AJ, as he was known by his family and friends, retired from the Luzerne County Court House where he was employed in the Microfilming Department then later becoming the "always smiling" traffic crossing guard. He was a lifelong member of the Breslau Hose Co., having recently received the honor of being a 50 year member. He also enjoyed numerous cruises with his beloved wife Dolores, with whom he enjoyed 55 wonderful years of marriage, AJ was an avid football fan always routing for the Pittsburg Steelers. He also enjoyed and shared, his extensive coin collection. Our memories of the best Dad and Grandpa will forever live in our hearts. He is survived by daughters, Lisa Jastremski and husband Joseph, Wilkes-Barre; Carol Chesna, Hanover Twp.; Michelle Leshock and husband David, Bloomsburg. Grandchildren, Krystina Jastremski, Janine Balutis and husband Brian, Nuangola; Gianna Leshock, Bloomsburg, great grandchild, Brynleigh Mullen; brother, William Chesna, Jr., Honesdale. Funeral will be held on Monday at 11:00 am from the S. J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 West Main St. Plymouth, with Pastor Eric Miller of Bloomsburg Christian Church officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 9 – 11 am.
