Obituary of John J. Steck

In living memory of John Steck, 82, of Luzerne, who passed away Monday, November 8, 2010, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Swoyersville, he was a son of the late Joseph and Pauline Steck. John was a graduate of Swoyersville High School and a veteran of the US Army. Prior ot his retirement, he was a superintendent of Acme Markets. John was a member of Holy Family Parish and the Knights of Columbus Assumpta Council 3987, both in Luzerne. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Ruth Kukinas, and many brothers and sisters. John is survived by his children, Lynn Steck, Luzerne; Carol Kole, Larksville; John P. Steck, Coopersburg, PA, ; and Gail Kimmerle, Shavertown; grandchildren, Jessica and Brittany Kole, Christian and Olivia Kimmerle; brother, Albert Steck, Silver Springs, MD; and sister, Elizabeth Steck, Swoyersville. Funeral will be held at 10:30am Saturday from Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home , 568 Bennett St., Luzerne, with a mass of Christian Burial at 11am at Holy Family Parish, Luzerne, with the Rev. Michael Zipay officiating, Friends may call at the funeral home from 9:30am until the time of the service.
