Obituary of Elizabeth Mesaros

Elizabeth Mesaros, 79, of Luzerne passed away on Wednesday at The Laurels in Kingston. Born in Edwardsville, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Stella Butsick. She was a graduate of Edwardsville High School, class of 1949. Prior to her retirement she was employed at Pioneer Manufacturing and the Nesbitt Hospital. She was a member of Holy Family Parish, Luzerne. Betty was a devoted wife and mother of seven children and grandmother of eleven. Her husband, children and her home were her life's work. She was center of a large, loving family and found her greatest joy in making life better for them. She loved her gardens, birds and decorating her home, and in these simple tasks she created beauty and love. She excelled as a cook, particularly ethnic foods from her Polish / Slovak traditions. The love she put into those preparation and everything family related will not soon be forgotten. She was preceded in death by daughter Amy Knelly on July 28, 2010. She is survived by her husband William and children, William of Brecksville, Ohio; Michael of Walnutport; Stephen of Jim Thorpe; Della Marie Koester of Akron, Ohio; Anne Benton of Spring City; Jennifer Harris of Wilkes-Barre, Twp. Eleven Grandchildren and brother, Joseph Butsick of Mullan, Idaho. Funeral will be held on Monday at 9:30 AM from the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, Inc. 568 Bennett St. Luzerne with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Holy Family Parish, Luzerne, with Rev. Michael Zipay officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Twp. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 7-9 PM. The family would like to thank the staff of The Laurels Nursing Home, Kingston and Hospice of the Sacred Heart.
