Obituary of Gertrude Chukinas

Gertrude Chukinas of Luzerne passed away on Monday at her home. She was born in Pringle, daughter of the late George and Jennie Tomashuror Chukinas. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart School. Prior to her retirement she was employed as a bookkeeper for United Penn Bank. After her retirement she was a seamstress for many years working out of her home. Gertrude was a very independent individual; she loved collecting tea pots and traveling to visit her sisters and family occasions. She was a member of Holy Family Parish, Luzerne. She was preceded in death by brother Stephen Chukinas and sister, Wilma Orischak. Surviving is a sister Helen Hruska of New Jersey; brothers, George J. Chukinas of Pringle, Edward Chukinas and wife Joan of Plains, Joseph Chukinas of MountainTop, also many nieces and nephews. Private funeral will be held for the immediate family from the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, Inc. 568 Bennett St. Luzerne with Rev. Michael Zipay officiating.
