Maryann Carr, 70, formally of Swoyersville, passed away on Thursday at the Laurel's Health & Rehab, Kingston. Born in Kingston she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Tershak Hrivnak. She was a graduate of Swoyersville High School and was a member of Holy Family Parish, Luzerne and The Lighthouse for the Blind.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Joseph Hrivnak and sister, Dorothy Krakosky and niece Sandra Krakosky. Maryann was a continual source of love & pride to her family, a loving sister, daughter and aunt. She was a caring homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking and crafting. Although she faced many obstacles in life she remained a person of profound faith.
Surviving are sisters, Cindy Hrivnak of Forty Fort, Karen Rauss of Bethlehem; brother, Thomas Hrivnak and wife Cecilia of Newport News, Virginia; Nephews, Kenneth Krakosky, Gregory Rauss, Kevin Hrivnak; nieces, Elaine Cameron, Catherine Hrivnak, Laura Hrivnak.
The funeral will be held on Monday at 9:30 AM from the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, Inc. 568 Bennett St. Luzerne with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Holy Family Parish, Luzerne. Interment will be in St. John Nepomucene Cemetery, Courtdale. Friends may call on Sunday from 6-8 PM.
